Love on a Note

Well, i'm sure you have been a victim of this... As a result of a transaction with a shopkeeper, or maybe the bus conductor, it could happen anywhere! The green note that falls into your hand weighs much heavier because of the words it carries. So what am I talking about??

Next time you receive a currency note, make sure you check it properly. If not on the front side, then maybe the back side. Or maybe the sides! It sure is gonna carry some story! Here, recently i got a 100 rupee note. It was with me all these days and only by chance did i see the back side of it. To my pleasant surprise I see a short love lament written across it- "TONY- I can't stop thinking about you- SAHANA"

Now the dilemma becomes- who can't stop thinking about whom?! Tony can't stop thinking about Sahana or the other way round?!!

I'm just wondering what the story could be ;) Wouldn't it be a nice novel if I were to write the adventures of this 100 rupee note??? ;) Oops.. i might be penalised for plagiarising, cuz I'm sure there is a Bollywood movie out there with the same plot :D !

Return of ME !!

Wow! it's been such a long time since i updated my blog... Don't know if anyone's even reading it ;) but i simply wouldn't have got 123 hits (as of now) if no one happened to stop by my blog :) So... here's me, i'm very much alive!! I'm currently reading The Illustrious Prince by E.Philips Oppenheim.

The atmosphere of mystery is set right from the first page. There's a murder at the beginning and more murders during the story. It's something political, but also what you and I can understand :). Just download the e-book from my fav. website free e-books.net.

Another book I'm currently reading is The Gold of Gods. Quite an interesting story about some antique piece of dagger! Go for it!

Will keep this blog updated as soon as possible. Comments are welcome, people!!

Retro Pick #3- The Two Destinies

Well, it seems like i'm hooked on to only "retro" books! Can't really help it! It seems a pleasant escape from the polluted literary pages of today. I blame myself for being stuck up with the Old English; just love it! But, by the by, here's another classic from Wilkie Collins- The Two Destinies.

The title attracted me to the book. A polite opening with a letter by one of the characters pulls me right into the story. The story is of two kindered spirits, a man and a woman, who fall in love at a very very young age. They are destined to meet and marry one another no matter how far apart destiny itself separates them at the outset. So, the tale interestingly describes the merging of the two spirits supernaturaly and adventurously throughout the book. and finally, the climax is the expected meeting of the man and woman itself.

Doesn't keep you at the edge of your seat, but the supernatural element is sure a winner. And as every book-lover knows, curiosity gets the better of them irrespective of whether the story is good or bad. The book isn't delicious, but leaves quite a good taste by the end of the read. So, go on, indulge!! You can find the e-book at this website.

This is a Good Read Definitely!

TheGoodReadWipe cover
Fred Nurk had an idea that everyone else thought was hair brained. But he persisted and opened a new chapter in personal habits.
Printed toilet tissue? Nothing new there. Publishing books on toilet tissue? Now that's a brainwave. Fred Nurk ignored the advice of others and went ahead with his idea. The result? He became a millionaire. The result then? He became a prisoner of his own fame. That led to? Building his own mansion in a rural setting. The result? Staid locals rebelled. Meanwhile? The grand plan faltered. And the outcome was? Well.....that would be telling.
Well, that's exactly what the e-book is about!! exciting and humourous till the end, this is one book which is unique in its content and stands out of other books of the same genre. This is apparently rchedyn's (a unique name!) fourth book and all four have been in different categories... I'm impressed with this author!

Need to get your mind off something? Then I suggest this book, it's a winner. Free e-book available Here.

Food for Thought!

Got an interesting mail a few years back. I had liked it that time when i read it and I liked it even more when i got the same mail again a few days before. It's about a speech given by famous Indian author Chetan Bhagat. His "Five point Someone" is the only book i've read of his and I must say, though the language is passable, the humour will leave you with a jaw pain 'cause of the continuos grinning while you read the book :).. here's the speech he gave at SYMBIOSIS (a business school in Pune):

"Don’t just have career or academic goals. Set goals to give you a
balanced, successful life.
I use the word balanced before successful. Balanced means ensuring your
health, relationships, mental peace are all in good order.
There is no point of getting a promotion on the day of your breakup.
There is no fun in driving a car if your back hurts. Shopping is not
enjoyable if your mind is full of tensions."Life is one of those races in
nursery school where you have to run with a marble in a spoon kept in your
mouth.
If the marble falls, there is no point coming first.
Same is with life where health and relationships are the marble.
Your striving is only worth it if there is harmony in your life. Else, you
may achieve the success, but this spark, this feeling of being excited and
alive, will start to die…One thing about nurturing the spark - don't take
life seriously.

Life is not meant to be taken seriously, as we are really temporary here.
We are like a prepaid card with limited validity.
If we are lucky, we may last another 50 years. And 50 years is just 2,500
weekends. Do we really need to get so worked up? …It's OK, bunk a few
classes, scoring low in couple of papers, goof up a few interviews, take
leave from work, fall in love, little fights with your spouse. We are
people, not programmed devices...”

"Don't be serious, be sincere."

Retro Pick #2

Ok, here comes another, really old novel, but nothing less sensational- ARMADALE.
Read it as an e-book HERE. It's a story about two distant cousins and how their destinies are intertwined. In comes Miss Gwilt, that perfect heroine vamp, to take you on a fulfilling journey of deceit, romance and thrill! Armadale is considered to be one of  Wilkie Collins' best books. This is an image taken from wikipedia:
Armadale 1866 1st ed.jpg

The story is absolutely engrossing, at a whopping length of 520 pages but nonetheless keeps you at the egde of your seat. I had to finish reading this book before i could sleep peacefully! A lot of characters to make this plot as complicated as possible, you must read it!!
